OFFICIAL CHARITIES OF THE INTERNATIONAL
GOVERNORS CUP TOURNAMENT
Let’s face it. Those of us who fish competitively are
very fortunate to have the opportunity to take part in the excitement
of tournaments. We fish exotic locations aboard impressive sport
fishing boats and yachts with the latest gear and top crews.
We’re there for the spectacle, for the thrill of competition,
to experience new places and people… to have the chance
to win, to achieve success. Why? Because we have the opportunity.
Right now, just a stone’s throw from the luxury and excitement
of the marina here in Cabo San Lucas, there are many without
opportunity. No opportunity to succeed in life, no opportunity
to live life above the poverty level, or at least none that
they know of. It’s the mission of our 3 officlal charities
to provide better alternatives to what these less than fortunate
individuals currently experience everyday.
Our primary charity is Casa del Abuelito Feliz,
a project to construct a new residential care facility for the
ever-growing population of the elderly who do not have the resources
needed to live out their lives in comfort and dignity. Your
participation in our tournament will help fund the purchase
of land and the actual construction of the facility. The next
two charitable projects we will be donating to are Casa
Hogar of Cabo San Lucas, a home for orphaned or displaced
boys, and Casa Cuna in La Paz, a home for orphaned
or displaced girls and infants. It’s the mission of the
International Governors Cup Tournament (IGCT) to help as much
as we can, in any way that we can, and we hope you’ll
join us in doing so.
As the official charities of the IGCT, these 3 worthy causes
will receive 80% of the tournament registration fees, a portion
of the tournament division entry fees and a portion of sponsorship
funds. Our goal is to donate all but the tournament operating
costs and winner payouts to Casa del Abuelito Feliz,
Casa Hogar of Cabo San Lucas and Casa Cuna
in La Paz – as well as to encourage tournament
participants, sponsors and other caring people to do what they
can to help support the success of thes projects. If you’re
thinking about competing or sponsoring the inaugural event,
we hope that knowing you’ll be helping the these worthy
charitable causes will help you commit. Why? Because you have
the opportunity… the opportunity to give someone less
fortunate, a chance to win... a chance for a better life.
